For anyone doing the tin whistle exam they need to continue to practice the tunes Southwind Air and Níl na Lá.

This week we are covering parts of the body and this weeks words are ceann (head), cos (foot), lámh (hand), srón (nose), súil (eye), cluas (ear).
If you are unsure of the correct pronunciation use the website focloir.ie and enter the English version of the word. Then click on the M after the Irish version of the word for the Munster pronunciation.
Note, that for the test it is not a spelling test so much as does the pupil know the word or phrase. If they spell it phoenetically and I can discern that they know the word or phrase they will get a correct mark.

Week 1 Day 1 from the Phonics and Spelling Booklet which was sent home with your child today.
Note that 1st Class only have to learn the words in the first column of each day only. So for example 1st Class just have the words bad, bag, ban and bat to learn tonight. 2nd Class have to learn both columns.
2) Tables:
This week the class are learning the +1 tables. The addition tables can be found on page 15 of the Homework Journal which was sent home with your child today. Tonight they have to focus on 0+1 to 4+1.
3) Busy at Maths Shadow Book
When your child takes down their homework this is abbreviated to BaMS to speed things up.
Tonight 1st Class have to complete Page 1 Questions 1 to 4 inclusive.
I will collect this book on Friday to correct it.
Once your child has completed their homework their journal should be signed each day.
I will start weekly tests this Friday. The test involves ten of the +1 Tables and any ten of the spellings for the week. Your child's test copy will be sent home on Mondays for you to sign.
