School Note 29th Nov 2017
74 Shoe boxes were sent to Team Hope Shoe Box appeal by the children and families of Manister NS. Thank you for your generosity again this year. Any Christmas Cards which were ordered by the children were sent home in November. Nine children received a medal for their achievements on Mangahigh’s website during Maths week this year. Carol Singing in aid of Bumbleance and Cenacalo House, Knock takes place on December 20th this year in The Crescent Shopping Centre. Pupils from 3rd to 6th classes will be singing. Mrs Tina Keyes and her students who are learning the guitar will accompany them.
If you are in the shopping centre that evening please come along to support us between 6 -9.
The schools productions of ‘The Seven Little Penguins’ and ‘Robin and the Sherwood Hoodies’ will take place in the Community Hall on December 13th and 14th. A note regarding costumes has been sent home this week . The children need to be at the school at 5.15 both days to get ready to go on stage. The Junior Play will start at 7pm on both nights. The actors can be collected from the school afterwards. You may wish to take them home or return to the hall to watch the Senior Play. Please ensure you allow Ms Gleeson take the class back to their classroom before you collect them. There will be a raffle on the night. Tickets will be on sale between the two plays and the draw will take place after the Senior Play both nights. Further information will be given in the week prior to the show.
As part of our Gaelbhratach (Irish Flag) campaign those involved in the Senior Play will sing the National Anthem after the play on the second night. We hope that parents and those attending will join in to mark the end of the night. You will also receive a ‘Cuireadh’ (Invitation) to come to a coffee morning between 10-11 on December 21st in the halla. After 11 o'clock break the children will go to the halla,class by class, for a cake sale through Irish. We will be recording and uploading some simple Irish phrases for you to practice at home before this occasion. The Irish committee will ensure that details are on the website prior to this date including useful phrases, prices and your cuireadh. You will find all details under the “Gaelbhratach” tab on www.manisterns.ie.
Christmas Holidays : School will finish at 12 noon on December 22nd and reopen on January 8th.

Workshops on Internet Safety for 3rd-6th classes will take place in January. There is also a parents information evening for all parents in the school who wish to attend.

At the beginning of each new term we take a half day to facilitate a staff meeting. The meeting for the second term will take place on Wednesday 10th January . Pupils will finish at 12.30pm
Parent Teacher Meetings will take place in the school between 3.15-5.30 on the following dates : Wednesday 24th of January : Those with surnames from A-L
Thursday 25th of January : Those with surnames from M-W
School will finish at 2.45 to allow parents time to come back to the school for the meetings. A note will be sent out again in January.
